About Us

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church hosts a new Christian Chinese mission start congregation in the Pacifica Synod, Grace Lutheran Church, ELCA. We have a wonderful partnership in ministry and it is amazing to see the ways that God is blessing their new congregation. Pastors Stephen and Emily Kung lead this ministry that seeks to reach out to the Chinese community in Irvine and beyond.

Here is a personal greeting from Pastors Stephen and Emily Kung:

Chinese Greeting

English Translation:

With God’s wonderful guidance, it’s been almost a year since the establishment of Grace Lutheran Church. All the brothers, sisters and coworkers are grateful to God for this.

Founded in August 2008, Grace Lutheran church holds services at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Irvine. This is a church mainly for people with Chinese background. Our goal is to have a healthy life, to serve joyfully and to share Gospel effectively. Therefore we hope to systematically build up Christ’s disciples, to find out individual’s gifts, to encourage congregation involving the ministry of the church, and to reach out the communities and share Gospel. We also hope that we can have co-work with other churches with the same vision so we can preach Gospel to people near and far.

If you ask: what are the differences between Grace Lutheran Church and other churches?

At this church you will:

  • Listen to Sunday sermons which focus on the practical needs of your daily life and teaching the truths of Bible to help you face the difficulties with positive joy.
  • Meet new friends who long for spiritual growth just like you. Experience God’s renewing and healing power in the contemporary worship.
  • Be joyful for the growth of your children (both kids and youth) who are loved and cared.
  • Experience joyful life through systematic discipleship and individual caring, which help you build up solid faith in God.
  • Find out the meaning of life through involving pioneering the church and developing the community ministries.

Dear friends, if you have not experienced the grace of God or do not have a church to go to regularly, and if you have the same vision as ours that you are willing to get involved with the process of building up Grace Lutheran Church, we warmly welcome you to join us and together let us experience a joyful and abundant life promised by our Lord Jesus Christ.
