About Us

Worship at Good Shepherd Northwood

In 2002, in an effort to further the advancement of the Gospel in North Irvine, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Northwood was started.  Mission funds to plant a church there were not available on the denominational level, so the leadership of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church decided to allocate some of its benevolence money to fund this Northwood site. Also, several members from the Main Campus committed to worshipping regularly there to get this site going. The Northwood site meets on Sunday Mornings at Canyon View Elementary School.

The Northwood site is led by Lead Pastor, Mike Anderson, and also has children’s and youth ministry staffing, as well as an administrator. The Northwood site and Main Campus share many resources and programs together and operate by the principle we are “better together.”

Importantly, we are one church, one budget, and one staff in two locations. The Northwood site is not a church plant of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church per se, but strategically carries out the Vision of GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH to Know, Grow and Show God’s love in the Northwood community. Our vision as a church is to start other sites in the area to fulfill the Great Commission.

9:30 a.m. – Our Contemporary Worship service is led by our Worship Band. They help to usher us into the presence of God through updated hymns and modern contemporary worship music (like you might hear on 95.9 The Fish or other Christian radio stations). We serve communion every week at this service.
