Our goal is to move the members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church
to maturity of faith in each of the following areas of their lives:
Grace - Grace means "free gift". When we believe, "For it is by
grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from
yourselves, it is the gift of God..." (Eph. 2:8), we begin the faith
journey!
Growth - Our walk with God begins by grace, and it continues in grace.
Growth is our on-going response to God's grace as it is reflected in our
daily lives. "But growing the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ..." 2 Peter 3:18
Group - Because there are days when maybe it's easier to see the God in a
friend than it is to see the God in ourselves, we need the encouragement of a
small group of people for encouragement and if needed, for
accountability. We understand why it was said of the early Christians,
"...they continued to meet together... They broke bread in homes and ate
together with glad and sincere heart, praising God and enjoying the favor of all
people." (Acts 2:46 & 47)
Gifts - God has given you and each Christian, one or more spiritual gifts
to be used along with other people's gifts, for the good of His church
and God's world. That's why St. Paul said, "Now concerning spiritual gifts,
brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uniformed"..."there are
varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit and there are varieties of service...but
it is the same God who activates, all of them in everyone."(I Cor. 12:1, 4,
5, 6)
Giving - As we grow in Christ, we more and more realize that we have been
bought with the price of Christ's blood, and that everything we are and have
belongs to Him. Then, very naturally, we submit our time, talents and
money to His Lordship. "Give, and it will be given to you. A good
measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be given to you; for
the measure you give will be the measure you get back." (Luke
6:38)
