  1. We believe that God's desire is to see His love grow as we share His love with all people.

    • "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age." - Matthew 28:19--21 (NRSV)
    • "God has done it all! He sent Christ to make peace between Himself and us; and He has given us the work of making peace between Himself and others." - Corinthians 5:18 (CEV)

  2. We believe that Worship, individual and corporate prayer, the preaching and teaching of God's Word and sharing of the means of grace, lay the foundation of our life together as believers. We value worship experiences that are personal, diverse, rooted in our Lutheran theological heritage and reflect emotional and spiritual integrity.

    • "Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name." - Psalm 100:4 (NSRV)
    • "They spent their time learning from the apostles, and they were like family to each other. They also celebrated the Lord's Supper and prayed together." - Acts 2:42 (CEV)

  3. We believe in the truth, guidance and spiritual nourishment that God's Word, the Bible, provides to every believer and we intentionally dedicate ourselves and this congregation to growing in scriptural knowledge and application.

    • "...if you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples; and you will know the truth and the truth will make you free." - John 8:31-32 (NRSV)
    • "Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." - Psalm 119:105 (NRSV)

  4. We value the intentional equipping of people for ministry, for the building up of the Body of Christ and evangelistic outreach.

    • "...equip the saints for the work of the ministry, for the building up of the Body of Christ." - Ephesians 4:12 (NRSV)
    • "We take out lead from Christ, who is the source of everything we do. He keeps us in step with each other. His very breath and blood flow through us, nourishing us so that we will grow up healthy in God, robust in love." - Ephesians 4:15-16 (The Message)

  5. We value maturity in faith, exemplified in effective and fruitful service and stewardship.

    • "...let your light shine before others so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven." - Matthew 5:16 (NRSV)
    • "You can tell what they are by what they do..." - Matthew 7:16 (CEV)

  6. We value relational ministry through small groups as the most effective catalyst for life change and the most efficient manner of providing Christian care, fellowship, support and encouragement.

    • "They worshipped together regularly at the Temple each day, met in small groups in homes for Communion and shared their meals with great joy and thankfulness, praising God. The whole city was favorable to them and each day God added to them all who were being saved." - Acts 2:46-47 (LB)
    • "You are better off to have a friend because you will get more enjoyment out of life. If you fall, your friend can help you up... a rope made from three strands of cord is hard to break." - Ecclesiastes 4:9 (CEV)

  7. We value Children's Ministry, Ministry to Teens and Family Ministry as vital to the vision of the congregation and as ministries to which we sense a specific call.

    • "Now you are no longer strangers to God and foreigners to heaven, but you are members of God's very own family, citizens of God's country, and you belong to God's household with every other Christian." - Ephesians 2:19 (LB)
    • "Teach a child to choose the right path and when he is older he will remain on it." - Proverbs 22:6 (CEV)

  8. We value an Outreach Ministry in society that shares God's love with those who are in spiritual, economic, or relational need.
    • "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. And a second is just like it; you shall love your neighbor as yourself." - Matthew 22:36-40 (NRSV)
    • "Our love for Him comes as a result of His loving us first." - John 4:19 (LB)

  9. We value the goal of excellence in ministry as a manner of worship to our God, who has given the totality of His love for us.

    • "Do your best. Work from the heart for your real Master, for God, confident that you'll get paid in full when you come into your inheritance. Keep in mind always that the ultimate Master you're serving is Christ." - Colossians 3:23-24 (The Message)

  10. We value the fact that GSLC is a large and growing congregation and accept the responsibility to develop and share what God so graciously gives.

    • "Good work. You are a good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over this small amount, so now I will give you much more." - Matthew 25:23 (LB)
    • "His power at work in us can do far more than we dare ask or imagine." - Ephesians 3:20 (CEV)
