GSLC Northwood News
By Pastor Mike Anderson Lead Pastor, GSLC Northwood
As I am writing this the North Leadership Team is fi nalizing a 5 year
business plan to be presented to the Church Council on May 20th,
which will then be presented at our Semi-Annual Meeting on June
8th (12:15 pm GSLC South). Our plan will summarize the fi nancial
needs for Northwood facilities and staffi ng, and lay out key ministries
needed to move into the future.
As we have surveyed the congregation what makes the Northwood
campus desirable is a small, intimate, family feel, where everybody
knows your name and glad you came. Our central focus is on
ministry to young families. This fi ts very well with our GSLC mission
statement to “Know, Grow and Show God’s Love, Equipping
Everyone to Pass On the Good News to the Next Generation”. What
is nice is that being a multi-site congregation, we can
capitalize on the offerings of a larger congregation
through activities at GSLC Main Campus (Ie. Men’s
and Women’s Ministries), while maintaining our unique
community feel at the
Northwood site.

Update on Children’s Ministry
During this time of transition, by the grace of God, we have had two people step up to help run our Children’s Ministry. Sarah Rendon will lead 1st – 3rd grade, and will also be our VBS Liaison and run Summer Sunday School. Dawn Kazoleas will lead 4th – 6th grade, and use her administrative gift to help our ministries run smoothly. We are excited to have already received feedback that parents like the new curriculum we have already implemented for our elementary
Sunday School program. Please continue to give Sarah and Dawn feedback as to how we can best serve you and your kids! Also thanks to Kathy Harrison, who has volunteered her time, and Jodee Spellman, our Preschool coordinator, who has given above and beyond!
We are better together!
Invite Someone New to Worship
As I have looked at attendance we have grown from averaging 80 in worship (2006 through Oct. of 2007), to averaging around 100 the last three months! That is a 25% increase!!! Praise God! What’s the difference? People are inviting their friends, who are inviting their friends!! What a concept! It is so fun to meet your neighbors and friends, I hope this momentum continues.
