Haiti Medical Mission Trip 2017

Dear Good Shepherd Congregation, Friends, and Donors:

Thank you for your generous support for our 6th Medical Mission to Haiti. We felt your prayers every day. God richly blessed this trip and provided everything we needed to deliver His love, mercy, and physical healing to almost 1,000 Haitian patients. We used Cap-Haitien as the base for four days of mobile medical clinics. Each day, we drove to a different location in our school bus and served at First Lutheran Evangelical Church, Ebenezer, Cedan, and Dutty. We were blessed to be able to care for our patients with stations offering prayer, dried beans and rice, Days for Girls Kits, sunglasses and hygiene kits.

Every year, God seems to expand our vision. Every year, He shows us new ways to serve. This year, it included providing a first-ever 5th day of clinic for 57 employees of our host hotel. For the first time, we were blessed with donation of a device that allowed our providers to test for, and treat anemia. Some of our team members also had the opportunity to visit and deliver medical supplies to Mama Baby Haiti, a non-profit health and birth center that offers free prenatal, birth, and post-partum care by Haitian and U.S. midwives. We can’t wait to see what God has in store for our 2018 Mission Haiti team!

Help educate a child in Haiti through the "Save A Seat" Program

The hope and future of Haiti lies with the education of its children. But with few public resources available to provide a free education, only 35% of Haiti’s children finish 6th grade. 50% of Haitian children in rural areas will never go to school. We have an opportunity to help change this situation in northern Haiti by sponsoring one year of a child’s education (or more if you choose) through the “Save a Seat” program sponsored by our mission partner, 3 Strand Cord. For only $195 a year, or $16.25 a month, you can help change a child’s life and simultaneously impact the future of Haiti.

The Save-A-Set program provides a year’s tuition, books, school supplies, school lunches, and a uniform to a child who would otherwise not have the opportunity to attend school. Our contributions will go directly to one of two elementary schools in Northern Haiti. You may choose to direct your donation to Good Shepherd School in Limbe, managed by our friend and mission partner, Mirdaige Robert Pierre, or to Ecole Mont Sion De Coupeal/Careton (Mt. Zion), affiliated with our friend and mission partner, Nicolas Victorin. OUR GOAL IS TO SPONSOR 150 SEATS!

If God is calling you to support the Save-A-Seat program, you may donate on-line by going to  Just follow the prompts. In the “Message” section, state that you are a member or friend of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Irvine. OR, you may donate by check or credit card after any worship service on April 23 or 30, 2017. Some of our 2017 Mission Haiti Team members will be on patio to assist you.
